We are currently recruiting
incoming high school freshmen (9th graders) who are entering a new school in New York City this September
and
incoming freshmen at New York University this fall
to participate in the Transitions research study, which examines how young people entering a new school explore their environments and build social networks.

The Transitions study involves two parts. First, participants will be asked to complete a 30 to 60 minute session online from home in which they will complete game-like tasks and questionnaires. They will also install a mobile phone app to continuously record their real-world location via GPS and we will periodically ask them to respond via their mobile device to questions about their emotions for a period of 3 months. All participants' data will be anonymized and stored securely.
All participants will earn $15 for the initial session, will receive a bonus of $25 after 1.5 months, and will receive another bonus of $25 at the end of the 3 months. Participants are paid via Amazon gift cards.
Once we have received your information, we will reach out to you later this summer with more information on the Transitions study. We will also let you know about any other studies for which participants may be eligible.
